The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-B) in 2393 while she was caught in the gravimetric distortions created by the Nexus.

The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-B) was an Excelsior-Class starship of the 23rd century under the command of Captain John Harriman, jr..

Launched in 2293, she was the third starship to carry the prestigous name Enterprise. On the ship's maiden voyage it responded to a distress call and saved El-Aurian refugees from a energy distortion called the Nexus. Most of the ship's equipment was not due to arrive until the following Tuesday, and James T. Kirk, who attended the Enterprise-B's first flight for publicity purposes, was presumed killed (but actually entered the Nexus) while modifying the navigational deflector which would then be able to free the ship from the Nexus' gravimetric fields.

The helmsman of the Enterprise-B was Ensign Demora Sulu, daughter of the noted starfleet Captain Hikaru Sulu.
